Promoting West Virginia Arts and Culture
Our state is rich with an array of tremendously talented individuals. Whatever your interest, be it; the visual arts, dance, theater, crafts, vocal and instrumental performances or the spoken word – West Virginia is truly alive with cultural treasures and opportunities.
In my travels throughout our state, I can always count on finding some unique artistic expression of the communities that make living in West Virginia so special. We have incredibly creative quilt makers, visionary glass makers, thought provoking painters, soul stirring singers, extraordinary dancers, powerful actors, master musicians and so much more. It is my intention to ensure that our creative community continues to thrive, have the support necessary to remain creative and acknowledge as contributing to the economic development of West Virginia. Just as important, I want all our states citizens to have the opportunity to be part of the creative process by increasing their access to arts and cultural programs. For our younger citizens, that means providing them with hands on arts experiences throughout their school years. For young adults, it means the chance to pursue their dreams of the creative arts through workshops and other programs that enhance the development of their skills. And, for life-long learners, our state will really shine as they continue to explore and partake of outstanding events of all types that satisfy their desire to know more about who we are through how we create.
So, join me as we all put our best creative foot forward. Our imaginations are limitless and the artistic and cultural treasures among our hills are there for the asking.
